Update on Hamlin Holidays
Happy Friday All!
Our Hamlin Holiday project is off to a fantastic start! As of this morning, we already have 19 families adopted out! These families have been adopted by local businesses, community members, school employees and school groups.
If you are interested in adopting a family, please contact DJ (Hamlin Pub Manager at 25 and Van Dyke) or me. We are also happy to accept monetary donations and do the shopping for you. Monies can be given to DJ or me.
Every year we get families that need items that are too expensive to purchase. This year we have a single mom with two children ages 9 and 6. Mom does not have a vehicle. She states “I am a single mom working part time while kids are in school. I don’t have a working car, so we walk. We are lucky to have a store, work, doctor/dentist and school within a half mile distance. I’m looking for a cheap, reliable van, car to purchase with no luck”.
Please, if you have any connections to get a van/car donated to this family please reach out to me.
I will send out another email the week of November 18th requesting Thanksgiving dinner delivery volunteers. I will not need as many volunteers as in the past due to so many families being adopted out.
Thank you so much for all you do! Have a fantastic weekend.

Before or After School Literacy Support Opportunity for students
- Second and Third Grade Literacy Support Program Winter Session 1
Teaching and Learning is offering a grant-funded before/after-school literacy support program that integrates reading and writing for second and third graders who scored at the 30th percentile or below in reading on the fall NWEA assessment from December 2, 2019 through January 24, 2020. Attached (5A) are guidelines for this intervention program.
Please identify one highly qualified teacher who is willing to teach the program at the building. Scheduling of the two days per week is up to the school. The guidelines require no more than 12 second and/or third-grade students per class. Once you have identified a teacher, please share the guidelines with them. Please email the name of the teacher to Catherine Einhaus, catherine.einhaus@uticak12.org, by Monday, November 18, 2019. Teacher training will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2019 from 4:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. at the Administrative Service Center.
Please edit the attached (5B) parent letter and run on school letterhead. Letters should be sent home to the parents of identified students. If there are any questions regarding the program, please contact Catherine Einhaus.
Please let me know if you are interested in teaching this, and I will send you the details. The program would run December 2, 2019 – January 24, 2020
