News From The Nest
LHS Parent Newsletter--Year 18, Vol. 6, 02/01/2019
Teachers and their relationships with students are at the heart of success in school. When we give students a voice, it helps them feel invested in their own learning and can ignite passions within them. Student voice also leads to an increased likelihood that students will experience self-worth, engagement, and purpose in school. T'na Bell has been working on a Student Voice project for our school. The first installment of this production is now available and you can access it here.
Family Movie Night
Make plans to join us on Wednesday, February 13th as the SCA and administration sponsor a LHS family movie night. We will be showing "The Princess and the Frog." The movie will begin at 6;30 and pizza will be provided. Families are asked to RSVP via this form so we know how much pizza to order!
Here Comes the Bus
Beginning February 4, 2019, VBCPS will be implementing an innovative mobile device app and website entitled, Here Comes the Bus®. This application allows parents to view the real-time location of their child’s school bus on any smart device. Here Comes the Bus enables the parent to:
- See the location of their child’s bus both before and after school.
- Confirm that their child’s bus has arrived at the bus stop, at school or both.
- Receive a notification when the bus is near the child’s stop, has been substituted, or when we have important information to relay.
Media and Communications will inform parents via a divisionwide AlertNow. The vbschools website will include information on how to set up accounts.
