January 3 - March 15: 10 Amazing Weeks of English!
Our ESL program is for students from beginner to high levels of English who want to improve their language skills for conversation, business, or future academic study.
ESL students take 21 hours of class per week, focusing on: oral communication, reading & writing, integrated skills, American culture, and TOEFL Preparation.
If you plan to attend an American university or college, we offer specialized courses suited to the needs of our more advanced students. Courses in English for academic purposes prepare international students to succeed in an American university classroom.
The program tuition is $4,175. At this time we do not offer scholarships for our ESL students.
Visit our website to learn more about the estimated total cost of attending our Winter ESL program, including tuition, housing, health insurance, and living expenses.
You do not need a TOEFL score to apply to this program.
The Middlebury Institute does not offer on-campus housing. We suggest that you begin your housing search before you arrive. Most of our students live with a homestay family or in an apartment close to campus. To learn more about homestay offerings, check out this one here here: ISP Homestays
If you would prefer to rent a room or an apartment off-campus, we can help you find information about rooms and apartments for rent in the area.
All students who are not US citizens must have a valid immigration status for study in the United States. Most students will require an F-1 non-immigrant visa in order to study at the Middlebury Institute.
Please note: we cannot accept students with a B-1 or B-2 (tourist) class visa who are currently outside the country.
Applicants will begin the visa application process with our Office of International Student Services after they are fully accepted into the program.
