A Message from the Stake Primary President
“The world will teach our children if we do not, and children are capable of learning all the world will teach them at a very young age. What we want them to know five years from now needs to be part of our conversation with them today. Teach them in every circumstance; let every dilemma, every consequence, every trial that they may face provide an opportunity to teach them how to hold on to gospel truths.”
—Rosemary M. Wixom, “Stay on the Path,” October 2010 general conference
Dear Primary Leaders,
This struck me so hard as I read the words "The world will teach our children, if we do not". This is so very true, the world throws different images and knowledge at our children everyday. But, we have been given a special privilege to teach these children every Sunday gospel principles to help protect them in a world of information. Take each opportunity to teach with the spirit and pray how to effectively teach the message that needs to be taught. I love teaching and never give up an opportunity to teach and talk with Heavenly Father's precious children. Thank you for the thoughtful and spiritual lessons you give every Sunday. I promise your hard work and words are never forgotten but remembered and built upon.
Love,
Sister McDonald
Primary theme for 2014- "Families are Forever"
This year in Primary we will have the opportunity to help each child come to understand the importance of families in our Heavenly Father's plan.
We are looking forward to coming into each of the wards throughout the year during your ward conferences. In preparation to your ward conferences we would love to join you in your visits to a few of the children homes, please let us know the date and time and we will make arrangements to be there. On your assigned ward conference Sunday one of our presidency members will have a sharing time presentation and we will also present the children with a keepsake with the primary theme for 2014. We are looking forward to visiting each of the wards and getting to meet you and each of the wonderful children whom you serve.

Handbook Training
We are so grateful for your love and service...the following are a few points taken from Handbook 2: Administering the Church.
For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you. … If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them." (John 13:15, 17)
11.1 Theme and Purposes of Primary
Primary is for children ages 18 months through 11 years. The Primary theme is “All thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy children” (3 Nephi 22:13). (This is different from the yearly theme.) The purposes of Primary are to help children:
Feel Heavenly Father’s love for them.
Learn and understand the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Feel and recognize the influence of the Holy Ghost.
Prepare to make and keep sacred covenants.
Parents have the first responsibility for the spiritual and physical welfare of their children (see D&C 68:25–28). The bishopric, Primary leaders, and Primary teachers support but do not replace parents in this responsibility.
11.8.5 Portrayals of Deity in Role-Playing Activities
Leaders and teachers carefully maintain reverence when they choose to conduct role-playing activities, especially when people dramatize sacred events. God the Father and the Holy Ghost are not to be portrayed in any way. The Savior should not be portrayed by children except in a nativity scene. For additional guidelines, see 13.6.15.
Additionally please remember and remind your leaders to use church approved materials for lessons, printed materials, and music. Thank you for valiant service!
Cub Scout Day Camp
All cub scouts are invited to participate in this weeklong day camp.
Permission slips will be given out in March. Each pack is required to have a leader to volunteer.
