Dear Students and Families:

Welcome to 2nd grade! My name is Jennifer West and I am excited to be your teacher this year! I can't wait to meet you and learn all about you when the school year begins, but until then, I wanted to share a little about me.

This will be my 13th year teaching in Council Rock! This is my 5th year teaching second grade, but I have also taught Kindergarten and fifth grades throughout my time as a teacher. Second grade is the best and we are going to have so much fun learning and growing together this year!

I graduated from Council Rock High School (now CRHS- North) and I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Delaware, and earned graduate and post-graduate degrees from Gratz College and Delaware Valley College.
I love to learn and consider myself a life-long learner! In addition to my post-graduate coursework, I earned a Writing Certificate through the Pennsylvania Writing Project at West Chester University and am now a Teacher Consultant and Fellow of the National Writing Project. I love to write, and we will be doing lots of writing this year in our Writer's Notebooks!
My family includes my husband and two little love bugs, Allie and Zach! (Zach celebrated his 1st birthday in April and Allie turned 4 years old in May.) We had such a fun summer together! Some of our favorite places to go are Sesame Place, the beach, the playground, the pool, and story time at the library! Allie and Zach are my little cuddle-bugs and they love to laugh and play all the time! I can't wait to share stories about Allie and Zach with you throughout the school year. I love being a mommy!
In the summer, my family loves to go to the shore! Allie and Zach LOVE playing in the sand and going in the ocean! We have so much fun together!
Another thing you should know about me is that I love to read! I read books with Allie and Zach all the time, and my favorite part of the day is story time and snuggles before bed. I absolutely love picture books! I have quite a collection in our classroom, and I can't wait to share them with you this year!

I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year! If either you or your child has any questions before the school year begins, please do not hesitate to contact me via email at Once the school year has begun, I can be contacted at this address or by calling the school at 215-944-2100. Also, please follow me on Twitter @mrswestges! I frequently post pictures and updates about our class throughout the school year and I can't wait to share our daily learning with you!

I look forward to meeting you at our August 25 “Meet and Greet” from 3:00 to 3:45pm or on September 13 at Back to School Night!

I hope you enjoy the rest of the summer! I look forward to a fantastic year!
