From School Administration
Thursday night culminated the Winter Concert series with our Band and Strings Concerts.
We want to thank Ms. DeSantis for leading our Instrumental Music Program. If you could not attend Thursday night's concert, you can view the Band and Strings Concerts on our CCES Twitter feed. Our students made incredible growth from the beginning of the school year to now.
We also want to thank Mrs. Ritchie for leading our Chorus and Music Program. Last month's Winter Chorus Concert was outstanding, and we appreciate Mrs. Ritchie for her time and dedication to our Chorus Program.
Our Art teacher, Mr. Schmitt, helps create an incredible environment for young artists to thrive. If you have not had an opportunity to see student work on display at school, here are a few samples of artwork below. It is amazing to see the outstanding talents of our students as they develop their artistic talents in school.
Fifth Grade Art Gallery - Hello I am...
Fourth Grade Art Gallery - Sketching Shoes
Third Grade Art Gallery - How I Help My Family
Second Grade Art Gallery - Cityscapes
Kindergarten Art Gallery - Landscapes
Report Cards Issued on February 7
The Great Kindness Challenge
Please return GKC checklist to Mrs. Rogers by February 6. All students who turn in a checklist will receive a Roaring Event.
Thank you for participating.
MAP - Measure of Academic Progress
The Winter MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) Assessment will be administered between February 4 and March 1 in Grades 1-5. Each grade level will determine the best time for their classes and will communicate that with families.
We use MAP scores to measure and monitor student progress and inform instructional decision-making. After the administration of the Fall MAP Assessments, teachers met with students to review their MAP scores, and they established academic goals. Teachers will meet with students again to celebrate growth and establish new goals after the Winter Assessment. We encourage each student to do his or her best on the MAP, and we look forward to sharing the information with parents when we issue third-quarter report cards.
Junior Achievement in a Day (JA in a Day) - SAVE THE DATE
One of our business partnerships is with Junior Achievement of Central Maryland.
JA of Central Maryland provides over $2,000 worth of supplies and resources to help run JA in a Day at Clemens Crossing. JA in a Day is a full-day program for Kindergarten through 5th-Grade students designed to provide experiences in work readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy.
Our annual JA in a Day will be held on March 18. In order to be able to run a successful day, we need two volunteers in each classroom to deliver the instruction. Our parent and community volunteers help share real-life work experiences with our students in addition to the content that is shared.
Please consider volunteering for this program. New volunteers need to participate in a training on March 11 at 4:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. at CCES.
To volunteer, please complete this form below or use this link.
Mrs. Dani Gardner, from our PTA, is helping to coordinate volunteers. If you have any questions, email Mrs. Gardner at dnr318@gmail.com or Mr. Cosentino at ecosentino@hcpss.org.

Conference Dinner Help
Hi, CCES Families! It's that time of year for Parent/Teacher Conferences.
The PTA holds a dinner for our teachers and we need your help. Please sign up to contribute an item or two. Since it is Valentine's Day, we will have a Valentine's theme decor. The PTA will contribute a dinner from Chipotle.
Please bring all items to the Cafeteria in recyclable/disposable trays.
Thank you in advance for all your support!!

After School Abrakadoodle and KidzArt
We have two different Art programs available after school. Both programs are fun and educational, and your child brings home their unique creation each time. Topics don't repeat so no concerns if your child has or hasn't done the program before. Open to Kindergarten through Fifth graders.
Abrakadoodle is on Mondays starting Feb 4.
This sessions theme is "We Travel the World".
