Education Beyond Expectations

One Semester Down!

It is hard to believe that the first semester is almost in the books. This is a time for reflection and also to begin thinking about what the second semester will look like as well. In our December newsletter, you will find Writing on Demand resources, information about upcoming professional development, some interesting reads for teachers, and some instructional resources I have dug up. Enjoy the rest of the semester and most importantly have a great winter break! You deserve it!

Plymoth Writing Project

On the KSDE website, a great resource can be found. The Plymouth Writing Project addresses teacher concerns about how to prepare students for writing on demand. Here you will find a study that defines specific skills needed for successfully completing an on-demand writing task. Also included you will find scripted lesson plans that will be very useful for modeling the thinking and problem-solving process, engaging with prompts and skills needed to do so, and many more strategies. This would be great for whole classroom instruction, small group instruction, and even to be used during Guided Study.

Also, 2015 sample MDPTs and resources have been posted. A great resource for writing practice!

Trending Tech Tool

Here is a great tool that allows you to use YouTube clips and embed questions in the video that students can engage with and answer. Students can even use their devices to answer questions. Even better, there are great videos that are already created!: https://www.zaption.com/gallery

Here is the BVTech Guide on how to set up your Zaption today:
