SOLON INTERMEDIATE
MONTHLY UPDATE - NOVEMBER 2019
PRINCIPAL MESSAGE
It is hard to believe that we are already in the month of November! The early snow was certainly a surprise as we wrapped up the month of October. As the colder weather approaches, we want to take a few minutes to remind all of our students about the expectations during recess. Please help us reinforce the following expectations by adding them to your daily school conversations at home:
- Students must have snowshoes and snow pants on to be able to play in the snow, otherwise they must stay on hard surfaces only
- No snowball fights, snow should not be flying towards anyone or anything
- Students should stay off any icy areas as they could slip and get hurt
- Labeling all hats, gloves, snow pants and boots will help reduce the number of lost items during the winter months
The cold weather can also bring changes to some of our student's normal dismissal routines. Please be sure to email your child's classroom teacher and the office (larwine@solon.k12.ia.us) by noon with any changes to their dismissal plan. This will help us ensure a smooth dismissal and that each student gets to where they are supposed to at the end of the day. It will also help ensure that your child has the necessary bus pass if they are going to ride on a different bus that day.
Thank you for your continued support! Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions, concerns or feedback.

OPPTORUNITIES TO VOLUNTEER
We are looking for volunteers who would be interested in helping with lunch and recess duty from 11:40am - 12:25pm each day (11:15am - 12:00pm on Thursdays). Anyone interested can contact Mrs. Tabor or Mrs. Arwine in the front office. Daily volunteers would just need to complete a background check.
Thank you in advance for your support and consideration!
