Habitat:
The Northern Spotted Owl resides in old, growth forests in the Pacific Northwestern.
Endangerment:
The Spotted Owl is endangered because of the extensive depletion of its natural habitat. Logging in northern California, Oregon, and Washington has been stopped by a court order.
Ecological/ Economical
Ecologically, the Spotted Owl is important because it is an "indicator species", it is also a predator for mice, insects,and reptiles. Economically, it is important because it is a very pretty bird that attracts much attention from tourists and bird watchers, it is also saving an entire forest for people to come and appreciate.
