Limited Time Offer!
How many of you get the Sunday paper just to browse the sales circulars? (OK, you can put your hands down). Sure, most of us do. The advertisers and companies know how to get our attention with the shiny pictures and the strategic layout of the ads. But nothing makes us move like the ads that say "limited time offer". You know, the extra low price sales that last for only a few hours or that are only available on a random Tuesday. The fact that we know we have limited time to take advantage of the savings makes us much more urgent about our shopping, right? Well, the same is true for the work that we must do for our students. We are under a "limited time offer" to give them what they need to be successful. By now we are all aware that the statistic used to plan prisons is third grade reading proficiency. So that gives us limited time to ensure our kindergartners, first graders, and second graders are prepared for the rigor of third grade. As sixth graders, our students will be required to use more sophisticated thinking skills in order to interpret and synthesize the information they are learning. Therefore, we have limited time to engage our third, fourth, and fifth graders in this type of work so they will be ready for 6th grade. Furthermore, we only have 175 more days of school to ensure 90% of our students make more than a year's worth of growth. How will you utilize every minute of every day to make sure this happens? Lets all take advantage of this limited time offer! The clock is ticking....
