CELC News & Updates
CELC Families,
Camryn McInerney, our amazing School Social Worker, began visiting classrooms for short stories and lessons. She is making great connections with students and will be in classrooms often. Miss McInerney will also be working with students in small groups.
We are excited to begin providing additional support in the afternoons from 2:00 pm to 2:40 pm. Each kindergarten teacher has been paired with a TK teacher. TK teachers will be working to support two rotations of small group instruction. This will occur three days a week as part of CELC's Response to Intervention (RTI). This is a great "jump start" on learning that will continue until the TK schedule moves to a full day in January.
We still need over 100 applications filled out. If you haven't already, please take the time to fill out the free/reduced application at https://www.alpineschools.net/o/ausd/page/free-and-reduced-meal-program to help CELC continue to receive Title I funding to support our students. Click on the SchoolCafe button to fill out the application. You will need your child's student ID number. You can get this in ParentVUE, ask your child's teacher, or call the office
We currently need two more parents to join our School Site Council. If you are interested, please contact Stephanie Green at 619-659-8250 or sgreen@alpineschools.net .
Here are a few updates to help keep you informed:
All students have access to free breakfast and lunch this school year regardless of the application status, however, it is still vital to fill the application out for other funding purposes.
- Breakfast is available at the cafeteria at 8:35 a.m. daily. The kitchen closes at 8:55 a.m.
- Please send your student to school each day with a backpack, refillable water bottle, a healthy snack, and a lunch (unless they are getting a cafeteria lunch).
- Please include a change of clothes in a ziplock bag in their backpack. Potty accidents tend to happen early in the year. We have clothes on hand but having their own seems to make them feel more comfortable.
For the safety and security of students and staff, gates are locked during school hours.
- Please use the front gate for entering and exiting the campus. the side gates are for employees only and must remain closed.
Although we have water filling stations, we like to have water bottles on hand for students that forget to bring a refillable bottle. Donations of water are always appreciated. You can drop them off in the office.
Please report any absences to your child's teacher and the office. Please let the office know the reason that your child is out and any symptoms if they are sick. Email Mary Barkely, our amazing Clerk or call the office at 619-659-8250.
Before and after school care is available. Please see the flyer below or contact Aimee Hatfield, AUSD's ESS Coordinator, at ahatfield@alpineschools.net if you have any questions.
