IFS: A Conceptual Overview
Internal Family Systems/Parts Work for Beginners
Presented by Bruce Hersey LCSW
This is a 6 hour course designed for mental health professionals and graduate students in the field who are interested in learning the basics of Internal Family Systems Therapy, a specific variety of Inner Parts Work or Ego State Therapy.
The Internal Family Systems model is recognized as an evidence-based treatment by the National Registry for Evidence-based Programs & Practices, of the US Government Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration.
Learn how everyone has parts, which at their core all have positive intentions, but often go overboard in their efforts to protect extreme vulnerability or harm. These parts cause conflict within the person, or significant distress - resulting in seeking the help of professionals like ourselves. Find out about The nature of our true or higher Self, which can emerge in the process of therapy and develop a healing relationship with any stuck or burdened part.
Approved for 6.0 CEU by NBCC & ASWB.
By the end of the training participants will:
- Learn at least one way to shift a client's attention to their internal experience.
- Learn at least 3 dimensions of internal experience and their constituent elements.
- Understand the technique of back-filling IFS concepts after leading the client to experience them.
