The amount of each food group and which nutrients you need vary by age and gender. Nutrition is important in a healthy lifestyle because poor diets can put you at risk for diseases such as obesity, heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and some cancer. To start improving your diet, your portion sizes should be 50% fruits and vegetables, 25% protein, and 25% grain. Try to also reduce your intake of nutrients such as sodium and saturated fats. You can find information on the foods nutrition by looking at its food label. The most important thing to look for while searching the food label is the serving size.
Physical Activity
Physical activity is essential for all ages. There are various forms of exercise including endurence, strength, balence, and flexibility. It is recomended that adults get at least 2 hours and 30 minutes of exercise at a moderate intenstity each week. For children 6-17, however, should get 60 minutes of exercise at a moderate or vigorous level each day and get 3 vigorous intensity workouts in a week.
