Twin Peaks Middle School
Weekly RAM Newsletter
From the desk of Principal Mills - Sunday, June 6th, 2021
Happy Sunday Ram Families!
I hope this newsletter finds you all well and enjoying this first week of June! It's hard to believe we only have two more weeks of school remaining in this most historic of school years... please make sure to read through the entire newsletter this week - there are several updates that we want to make sure you don't miss!
Textbook and Chrome Book Collections:
Please remind and encourage your student(s) to begin gathering up all of the textbooks and library books they checked out this year and be ready to turn them in starting on Monday, June 14th thru Thursday, June 17th during their science class (please see the schedule below for your class and day!). Students should bring all materials that need to be returned - including their Chrome book and charging cord - to the library during their science class during that week. Virtual students and those who do not turn-in their materials during the last week of school may drop them off on Monday, 6/21 from 8am-noon during our drive-thru book drop-off in the front of school.
End of the Year Summer Movie Nights:
Please see the section below to sign-up if you haven't already for these grade level celebrations! ASB will be announcing the movies that were selected later this week, so get your beach chairs ready for some fun in the quad the last week of school! We are still in need of a few parent chaperones to help with this event - please see the link to the sign-up sheet in the section below for parent volunteers.
8th Grade Promotion:
We are anticipating that the guidelines for our in-person promotion event on June 18th will be changing on June 15th when California removes it's tiered system for Covid-19 restrictions. As this information becomes available, we will be emailing TPMS families directly with any updates. We are still planning on live streaming this event and will also share that link out with families when we send out our promotion updates.
Facemasks on Campus:
Facemasks are still required of all individuals, students and adults, while on PUSD facilities and campuses. Parents - please encourage your students to keep their masks on during class and passing periods, and to only remove them when eating and drinking and physically distanced from others. We understand that many of you may not agree with the mask mandate, but please remember that it is only for a limited time and it is a requirement in order to remain on campus. Thank you in advance for helping to support this policy with your student.
Finally this week, a big THANK YOU to all of our amazing parents who donated food, gift cards, money and their time to make this year's 8th Grade Breakfast a success! Our promoting 8th graders were able to eat a bunch of amazing food, win some cool prizes, take pictures, and hang out with their entire class. We're looking forward to celebrating this class at our Academic Awards Night on 6/17 and during Promotion on 6/18 - we hope all of our 8th grade families are able to join us for both events!
With Gratitude,
Steve Mills

8th Grade Promotion
Students and families will have two options to choose from for Promotion 2021 - both options will be taking place on Friday, June 18th and are described below:
On-Campus Promotion Ceremony (8:30-10:00am): each 8th grader will be allowed 2 guests to attend the event in our quad with face masks and following social distance guidelines at the time of the event. Because of the limited size of the quad, guests will be limited to standing room only (seating for special needs will be available by request). The event will also be live streamed for additional family members to be able to view from off-site. A rehearsal will be held in the quad on Thursday, June 17th at 1:00 pm. All those participating in the on-campus ceremony must attend.
Drive-thru Promotion Celebration (11:00am-1:00pm): each 8th grader will be allowed 2 cars of guests with face masks and following social distance guidelines at the time of the event. Families will be assigned a 30 minute drive-thru window appointment and 8th graders will be able to receive their promotion certificate and have their photo taken.
ALL 8th Grade Students are asked to complete the Promotion Participation form and indicate which promotion option they are choosing to participate in. To access the form, please CLICK HERE! Please complete your selection ASAP!

June No Place for Hate Lesson: LGTBQ+ Awareness
Twin Peaks Middle School is honored to be designated a No Place for Hate School again for the 2020-2021 year by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) . Creating an inclusive school community that promotes unity and respect, and reduces bullying, name-calling and other expressions of bias remains our priority. With the help of the students in our Leadership elective, we created four lessons to share with our students, staff and families. With June being LGBTQ+ Awareness month, this month’s lesson focuses on education around vocabulary and how we can be an ally to our LGBTQ+ community. Just like with the two previous NPFH lessons, RAM teachers will share the optional interactive Nearpod with our students to complete at their own pace. We encourage you to view the lesson and have a conversation with your student about new content they may have learned, questions they may have, or how they can be an ally. All of us have a role in making Twin Peaks Middle School a No Place for Hate school!
