Second Semester New Bell Schedule
Second Semester Begins January 21
On Thursday, January 21, the second semester will begin, with elective courses changing for sixth and seventh graders. As a reminder, semester electives are courses that only last half of the year. If you need a reminder of what your second semester course is, please complete the following:
- Go to StudentVUE or ParentVUE.
- On the left-hand side of the screen, click "Class Schedule."
- Then, at the top of the screen, click "Semester 2 Term." The detailed schedule for Quarters 3 and 4 (Semester 2) will be present there.
In sixth grade, students who had Art for the first semester will have Introduction to Computer Applications the second semester (and vice-versa). In seventh grade, students who had Technology Education for the first semester will have Family and Consumer Science (FACS) the second semester (and vice-versa). In eighth grade, there should be no elective changes, as their courses run the entire school year. If you have any further questions, please contact your child’s school counselor.

Upcoming MAP Assessments
- Each student’s teacher will be sending an email with specific Google Meets for the test administration and log in information. They will also provide contact information for technical assistance during testing.
- If your child has an IEP, 504, or EL Plan with testing accommodations that can be delivered via the remote, online MAP administration, your child’s Case Manager or EL Teacher will also email you with information on how that accommodation will be implemented.
- If you do not wish for your child to participate in one or both of the assessments, please fill out this form with your decision no later than Friday, January 29.
- We anticipate sharing the results of your child’s test in ParentVue.
- You can use the Preparing for MAP Testing video to prepare for testing.
Making a Difference One Dance at a Time
During our first-ever Teamsgiving this past November, more than 300 scholars and teachers crafted brilliant video tutorials to help local retirement home residents get active as part of our Sources of Strength (SOS) Healthy Activities Challenge. Our Sources of Strength Committee, led by sixth grader Lily Brown and seventh grader Sarayu Kadasani, were able to select nearly 40 of these tutorials to be shared in the Loudoun County Senior Care Center newsletter, which reaches all Loudoun County seniors. To check out this masterpiece, please click here. And, thank you to everyone for their amazing work. Check out the amazing dance moves!

The LCPS Math Department has recently updated the LCPS Middle School Mathematics Course Selection Process with detailed information regarding the course options and selection process for rising sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. We would recommend reviewing this document as it provides math progression charts, informational videos, and the LCPS Math Curriculum Framework.
