February a month full of Kindness
We start the month off with our monthly recognition of students who are Caught in the Matrix for following our School Pledge. Our students make good choices each day to make our school a place of acceptance, kindness and respect.
This month we have our virtual Scholastic Book Fair where the profit we receive goes to purchasing new books for the library. Thank you for the support.
We are thankful that we are seeing our student absenteeism drop significantly at the beginning of February. We are also not experiencing an extreme shortage that we had a majority of the month of January. Thank you for keeping students home when ill.
Thank you to our AMA safety patrol students who continue to show their leadership by ensuring safety for all. We have seen an increase in vehicles driving through the bus lane. Please ensure that grandparents, caregivers and friends know where to pick children up for everyone's safety.
February 23 is Pink Shirt Day, a day when we celebrate diversity and ensure a safe, welcoming and inclusive school environment for all by wearing a pink shirt and taking a stand against bullying. This year, our School Council will be providing pink yogurt parfaits for students and we thank them for their contribution to this special day.
Covid Daily Health Checklist
Children should be screened every day by completing this checklist before going to school.

Kindergarten Registration for 2022-23
The early learning adventure begins here! We are accepting registrations for Kindergarten for the upcoming school year.
The requirements are:
1) Must live in Jack Stuart School's attendance area.
2) Must be 5 years of age before December 31, 2022.
3) Must provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate.
BRSD is planning on providing different options for kindergarten next year. Typically, we have students attend 2 full days/week (Mon/Wed or Tues/Thur, with Fridays split between the two classes). For next year, BRSD is also planning on offering full day kindergarten, everyday. To get a better sense of interest in the programming options, we ask parents to complete the following Expression of Interest form: Please note there is an additional fee associated with full-time kindergarten ($4250 payable in monthly installments of $425) and this program is dependent upon sufficient enrolment.
Please fill out the form and drop it off in the front door mail slot (located on the right side of the front doors).
Thanks!

We will be doing a Coffee Fundraiser starting Feb. 22. Rolling Hills Coffee is the locally owned business of one of our schools long standing substitute EA’s. Coffee is fresh ground upon order and is also available in k-cups. We are excited to fundraise with a very local business. Forms will be sent home in your child’s agenda. If you drink coffee, please consider buying some from us and supporting the school at the same time!
If you ever shop at Save-On-Foods please tell a cashier that you would like to donate your receipt to Jack Stuart School. We will get 5% back towards our playground and chromebooks.
February 23 is Pink Shirt Day at our school. We are happy to be bringing back yogurt parfaits once again! Students and staff will be provided a fun and healthy treat during the day. Parfaits will be made of yogurt, fruit and granola. We will require a few volunteers to help make parfaits and ensure that all food is handled in a safe, Covid-friendly manner. If you are interested in volunteering to make parfaits please text or email Terra at jackstuartparentadvisory@gmail.com (780)975-6533.
The next School Council Virtual Meeting will be on Feb. 23 at 7 pm, immediately followed by the JSS Parents' Society Meeting. All are welcome and encouraged to attend. Get updates, ask questions and have your voice heard.
Inclusion Alberta Surveys
Inclusion Alberta needs your help to better understand families' current experiences with FSCD (Family Support for Children with Disabilities) and FMS (Family Managed Services). If you are a family waiting for, using or even denied FSCD, please complete the Inclusion Alberta FSCD Survey here. If you are a family waiting for, using or denied FMS, please complete the Inclusion Alberta FMS Survey here.
Inclusion Alberta has been hearing from an increasing number of families about challenges they are having in obtaining or renewing their FSCD and/or FMS Agreements. Our hope is that these surveys will give us a clearer picture of how the government is responding to families who want to access FSCD/FMS or are currently using these funding programs to support their family member with developmental disabilities. These surveys were designed by and for families.
We think it’s time to take a measure of FSCD/FMS and hear from families. The information you provide will be essential to Inclusion Alberta’s continuing advocacy efforts to improve both FSCD and FMS and ensure they are meeting the needs of Albertans with developmental disabilities and their families.
Whether you are a family waiting to obtain FSCD/FMS, receiving it, or perhaps been denied, we would love to hear from you; we need to hear from you. Each survey will take no longer than 15 minutes to complete, and no personal data of any kind will be collected.
**These surveys close on February 15, 2022. Please complete your survey(s) before this date.**
