Hi Hansen Students, Parents, and Families!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend, and unofficial kick-off to summer! I hope the long weekend provides everyone chances to relax and have fun with those closest to you. While enjoying the weekend, please be sure to take a moment of reflection in honor of the purpose of the holiday, and we are grateful for all of our active and former members of the armed forces, and honor and remember those that paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Creating A Culture of Achievement, Equity, Inspiration, and Joy!

A Good Week at the Hansen

As everyone knows, our nation experienced another senseless and horrific event earlier this week with the school shooting in Texas. As a follow-up to my message from Wednesday, we have had a good week here at the Hansen School. Our staff engaged students in high quality instruction and learning opportunities, we had students attend regularly scheduled field trips, and we had families visit the building to engage in presentations and the learning experiences of students.

I wanted to again share the two resources below, should anyone find them helpful in navigating conversations with your child. As always, continue to reach out to school staff if we can assist in any way.

Summer Reading Information

Please take a moment to review the note below from Pre-K-5 Humanities Coordinator, Mrs. Abrams, with information regarding summer reading.

Hi Canton families,

Here you will find a letter that explains our Elementary Summer Reading Program. Our program works in conjunction with the program offered through the Canton Public Library.

Also, here is a video that teachers will share with students to remind them about the importance of summer reading and to tell them about some of the fun happening this summer at the Canton Public Library.

If you are looking for book suggestions, please reach out to the wonderful librarians who are excited to recommend some of their favorite books by age group. Our goal is for families to read as much as they can, whenever they can, and wherever they can!

We can't wait to hear all about your summer reading plans!

Garden Club Still Looking for Volunteers!

The Garden Committee is looking for volunteers next week. They need help dismantling the existing beds, removing crushed stone, preparing ground with new wood chips and eventually assembling new beds and planting.

Please email mooneyl@cantonma.org for more information!

REMINDER: Field Day!

Field Day is coming soon and is scheduled for Thursday, June 2 with a rain date of Tuesday, June 7! This is always an exciting and fun day for our students, and thank you to those that have volunteered to assist!

If you are not signed up as a parent/guardian volunteer, we kindly ask that you not attend field day. Thank you for your support, and please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions. We are looking forward to a day of friendly competition and joy!

IMPORTANT REMINDER: 2022 - 2023 Hansen School Hours

As a reminder, next year, the Hansen transitions to the 'late elementary school', and our start and end times will be a half hour later than they are currently. We will keep these hours for the next two school years.

Next year, student drop off will begin at 8:50, with classes starting at 9:10 a.m. Student dismissal will be 3:25 p.m.

Please reach out with any questions!
