You are doing a freaking great job!
So instead, I just wanted to tell you that I think you are doing an amazing job!
As I shared Thursday during PL, district leadership is very aware and excited for the success our students experienced last year. But now, our greatest challenge is to maintain that success, and that has been communicated to me.
I encourage you to continue the efforts you make daily, but most of all, I want to encourage you to continue your own growth. Our students will only be successful if we continue to sharpen our skills as educators.
Thank you for a great month!
2017-2018 School Improvement Plan
STRATEGIES AND INITIATIVES
1. Teachers will utilize academic vocabulary and anchor charts to increase student achievement in the classroom.2. Teachers will provide specific daily learning targets as a tool to direct student focus for each class period and monitor student progress via feedback and assessments.
WHERE ARE WE NOW
We have collected our pre-data for our SIP, and we will be sharing that with you soon. Remember that we are moving slowly and intentional, and we expect to see growth throughout the year, not perfection at the beginning of the year.
Within your Daily Snapshot, you should be identifying what you determine as your daily learning target. At this time, some of you may be writing this as an EQ, and there is nothing wrong with that. The most important things to remember with your learning targets is that students are aware of them, they align with the standards you are teaching, and the instruction or activity you have planned supports the learning target.
MONITORING
We appreciate your professionalism and willingness to share your classrooms during our PL on Thursday. We all listened to some great feedback, and we will share our pre-data results soon.
TKES Observations have began. Within our feedback, you may see comments referencing how we see your supporting our SIP initiatives.
- Updated Daily Snapshots
- Notebook for Archived Snapshots
- Evidence of Collaboration Among Grade Level Contents (this doesn't mean same)
- Early Stages of Development and Use of Anchor Charts
- Attempts at Learning Targets
UPCOMING PL
On 9/7, we will take our first steps assessing vocabulary with rigor within our data teams. The goal of this PL will be to improve how we identify key content vocabulary and how to assess student understanding beyond a standard vocabulary test.
On 9/21, our ELA and Math teachers will visit with Leslie Rogers as we learn how to embed Learnzillion and Coach Digital into Canvas.
Absence Analysis
The goal for September is to beat that number. There are only 14 school days in the month of September, and we need you here for each one of them!
If you had Perfect Attendance for the month of August, please see Mrs. McDaniel to select your rewards!
Time with principal
Either way, this is a great opportunity for me to step away from the distractions of my office to hear your concerns and needs or for you to share some of the great things happening that I may have missed. I look forward to seeing you!
Fun on "The Plane"
Great Job Mrs. Winckler!
Professional Learning Follow-Up
Don't forget that we need your input for our SIP goals. How many students do you believe you can move from Level 2 to Level 3 on the Milestones. Send us that information by Wednesday, and we will share our updated SIP by the end of the week.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!
