Out with the old, in with the NEW
The Navigation Act
The Navigation Act was set up to combat the Dutch in their trading efforts. This would open up England to keep control of the inports and exports going to and from the colonies. England would set up the process of using English owned ships in order to trade with the colonies. This would help them to build their Empire.
The new way of life
It takes some getting used to going by the new law. Since the Navigation Act was passed, we pretty much only do trades through England. Everything must now go through England for us to trade. The Dutch are having a hard time with competing with the English in trade now. This also opened up the slave trade from the Dutch which England is now getting more involved in. It will be interesting to see how this will pan out in the future since the English have completely changed the way trading is done.
