Hemorrhoids

A hemorrhoid is a group of dilated, or swollen blood vessels that is in the anal canal and the lower rectum. Enlargement of the hemorrhoid vessel is usually caused by our natural body posture, standing straight, pregnancy, and heredity. There are two types of hemorrhoids; internal and external. Discomfort begins to ease in 2-3 days and is gone in about one week.

Immediate and Long Term

  • Immediate:
  • Pain
  • Discomfort
  • Constipation
  • Embarrassment
  • Long Term:
  • More susceptible to hemorrhoids
  • Scaring
  • Extreme cases need surgery

Media

The media portrays hemorrhoids as gross, but in many cases they are unpreventable. A way to help hemorrhoids is fiber. This fiber one commercial shows a fiber rich food which helps with hemorrhoids.

Interpersonal Communication

If a person is affected by hemorrhoids, they may consult with a doctor. They could talk about what treatment is available. Anyone who is close to you can help you talk about it and help cure it. The two can talk about how it feels and try to prevent it.

Advances

Fiber: New advances in good tasting fiber foods can help treat hemorrhoids.

Surgery: New surgery practices can help treat severe hemorrhoids.
