MATH
- Using exemplars after the eight week roll-out is to be used as another resource for problem solving, possible assessment or CFA, or embedded in the math workshop. During this time you will be conferring with students to discuss problem solving strategies, goal setting, and the problem solving rubric.
- I attached the Exemplar stems for daily problem solving focusing on the processes. How are your students using these to develop their critical thinking & mathematical communication?
- How to support students math learning with using correct math language.
ELAR
Ways to Keep Things Going During Independent Reading Time-
- Organize your books for easy access.
- Start with small chunks of classroom IR time. How are you building stamina and endurance to promote wise readers?
- Monitor IR. Take a minute or two during IR to observe students-who is engaged? Who isn't? Monitoring children's action an behaviors, & then confer with those who need motivation and support. " I noticed you're having a hard time today-What is going on? How can I help?" This lets students know we noticed something & we care about them as readers, and we want to help.
SCIENCE
I have a wonderful resource for K-5- The Poetry Friday Anthology for Science. It is a great way to reinforce science content and help you celebrate poetry. Please let me know when your team is collaboratively planning if you would like to take a look at this resource.
