Characterization
"Shut up, you little monster." ( The words of Miami shows that she is selfish and mean)
"Alice was a twelve-year-old shadow, dark and observant, of ancient Sister Vincent de Paul, who in her black veil and habit and white apron looked like a witch in bandages" (This shows what as is like and what Sister Vincent de Paul is like)
Theme
The theme of my book is that you always belong somewhere no matter what. This was show when Sister Vincent de Paul told Alice everything would work out and would fit in anywhere.
Figurative Language
"cracking eggs with one hand until twenty-four golden suns flopped chummily in the floor." (personification and imagery that helps describe eggs)
"The snow was dancing in spirals." (personification and imagery that helps show what the outside of the town looks like.)
Dialogue
The section that I read out of my book is when Alice is at camp and one of the girls calls her Miami. By being called Miami, Alice figures out that she has a twin, therefore it is a major part of the rising action.
