Need Something Different Than This?
PBIS?
School-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports (PBIS) is a proactive, team-based framework for creating and sustaining safe supportive and effective schools. The focus of PBIS is on the prevention of problem behavior, the development of pro-social skills, and the use of data-based problem solving for addressing existing social/cultural/behavior concerns. School-wide PBIS will help schools educate all students with the use of research-based, school-wide classroom, and individualized interventions. It aligns nicely with most school improvement goals related to culture/climate. Establishing and nurturing a positive school culture is imperative for social-emotional and academic initiatives. We are happy to work alongside your School Culture team individually to create a more positive, cohesive school culture. That is uniquely yours. Just ask!
The framework consists of six essential elements:
1. Identification of three to five universal behavior expectations for the school that are positively stated.
2. Direct teaching of behavioral expectations.
3. High levels of acknowledgement, including positive teacher attention to strengthen those behaviors.
4. Predictable responses to behavior infractions, given consistently and fairly. A class and school discipline plan that is transparent.
5. Prevention of problems by modifying situations that are known to produce high levels of problem behavior.
6. Use of discipline data to plan, evaluate, and improve the PBIS implementation process.
