“Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Philippians 2:3-4

North Texas Giving Day

Thank you to everyone who donated to Green Oaks School last Thursday during North Texas Giving Day. We had 111 gifts for a total of $21,785! In addition, we won $10,000 from the Arlington Tomorrow Foundation for having the most spirit during the Arlington Gives! Rally. That brought our total to $31,785-exceeding our goal of $30,000 for the day! Praise God for His provision.

2015/2016 ANNUAL FUND

It is not too late to donate! As you may know, North Texas Giving Day kicks off our Annual Fund giving. While we are well on our way to reaching our goal of $45,000, we always appreciate any help you can give. Our Annual Fund is what helps us raise some of the money needed to bridge the gap between tuition and operating expenses. Upon request, we can provide you with material to reach out to your circle of friends and family.

Staff Appreciation Committee Meeting Tomorrow

The Green Oaks Staff Appreciation Committee provides our staff with luncheons, treats, and gifts on their birthdays. The Staff Appreciation Committee is requesting help from each family through donations of money and/or food. The suggested donation is $20, but any amount will be appreciated. Please send your cash or check (payable to Green Oaks School) to the office, in an envelope marked Teacher Appreciation as soon as possible. There will be a planning meeting for the Staff Appreciation Committee tomorrow, Tuesday, September 22 at 2:30 pm in the GOS library. If you would like to help in any way please attend this meeting. If you are unavailable at that time, but would still like to help, email Terri Boyd at or call her at 214-738-8568.

You’re invited to attend the Down Syndrome Partnership of North Texas "Thriving with Down Syndrome" Fall Conference on October 3, 2015. Register here: This free conference will be filled with beneficial information for any family who has a member with an intellectual disability, not just those with Down syndrome. There will be tracks for parents, family members, educators, caregivers, Spanish speakers, and self advocates 13 and over. A flyer about the conference will be coming home this week.

Police Visit

Last week a few officers from the Arlington Police Department, including one of our weekly volunteers, Mr. Jared, came to Green Oaks School. They visited our Elementary, Secondary, JV, and Varsity classes and talked about how to stay safe. After the talk, students went outside and got to explore the different police vehicles. A huge thank you to the Arlington Police Department for everything you do! We are lucky to be located in such close proximity to their station.

After Care

After Care will now take place in a classroom instead of the Cafetorium. Please check in at the office to pick up your student.
