Principal's Message
One of my most favorite parts about being a Principal is the excitement and joy to begin a new year! New school supplies, new teachers, new faces, new friends. This year, we have multiple beginnings and I am so excited about the one we will begin on Tuesday, April 13th!
I am thankful that we are able to have more students join in person and I am equally thankful that we will still have our Remote students! The longer day will provide more opportunities for learning, growth, success, risk-taking, and joy.
The information below will hopefully help families to get a better sense of what this new beginning will look like! I have also created a FAQ document (link is below) to help to answer some of the questions!
Teachers will be sending more specific classroom information later this week. I know that there are many questions, and I encourage you to reach out to any of us here at Peterson so that we can answer those questions for you!
Thank you for all of the support you have shown us we have navigated this journey together!
Best,
Alli Landstrom

- All grade levels will have a specific lunchtime. The times are listed in the FAQ document below. In-person students will use the MPR and the tent. Our Zoomers will be off-screen during their lunchtime.
- Zoomers will need to be engaged for the entire school day just as our in-person students will be. We ask that our Zoomers have a separate work space and do not leave it unless they get permission from the teacher.

Expectations
- Parents must certify the health of their student BEFORE leaving the house for school. If your family is in need of a thermometer, please reach out to our building nurse, Patti Mathison.

- If a student answers yes to any one or more of the questions in the certification, they should NOT attend school.
- If a student is sent to school after answering yes to any of the questions, they will be sent home.

- We recommend students bring an extra mask with them.

Emergency Contacts Up to Date
With students returning for in-person learning, it is imperative that we have 2 local emergency contacts on file for each student. Local is defined as being able to reach Peterson Elementary within 30 minutes.
Please sign in to your ParentVUE account and verify you have 2 local contacts listed for each of your students. Submit updates as needed or contact the office at 630-428-5678. We are glad to update the information for you.
In the event your child has an emergency or becomes sick at school, we will always call the parents first. Emergency contacts are called when we are unable to reach the parents.
In today's climate especially, we are not able to keep a sick child at school. If a child experiencing COVID-like symptoms is not picked up within 60 minutes, an ambulance will be called. This is district policy and we would rather not do that, so please make sure that you update your emergency contacts!
