BOOKFAIR
The Joseph Beth Book Fair Begins
Monday March 4 !
We are excited to announce that the book fair opens in a few days, March 4, and continues through Friday March 8. It will be open each day from 7:45 – 3:00 pm, except on Friday in which it will close at 11:00am.
Students will visit the book fair with their Multimedia Explorations class. Students not enrolled in this course are encouraged to come with a pass from a teacher throughout the day, before school, or from recess. You can send money with your child or come during that time to help them purchase books. In addition, we accept credit cards, checks, and "library money".
Shopping at the spring book fair is a great way to stock up on books your child will want to read over spring break or this summer, and help the school at the same time. It’s really fun to read anytime, but especially when you are traveling, sitting on a beach, or just relaxing around the house without any homework to do.
THANK YOU for encouraging your child’s reading endeavors, and for supporting the Greene School Media Center.
Happy Reading to all,
Mrs. Sloan, E.H. Greene Media Specialist
Save the date! Screens and Tweens - a Series for Parents
Keeping our children safe in this digital age is a concern we all face as parents, especially with the easy access to screens that our children have. With that in mind, the PTO has organized a 3-week series for parents where you will learn cutting edge information and tools that can immediately be applied at home.
- Tuesday, April 2 (6:30-8:00 pm): Screen Agers Documentary screening followed by parent discussion and breakout sessions.. Click HERE for a preview
- Tuesday, April 9 (6:30-8:00 pm) : author and speaker Steve Smith will talk about how we have become a distracted society, how social media and video games can impact mental health, and more. Click HERE to learn more about the presentation.
- Tuesday, April 16 (6:30-7:30 pm) : Sycamore Tech Dept. will lead a training on how parents can manage the off campus filter for student devices.
More information to come!
Sycamore Advisory Committee
Sycamore Advisory Commission, a committee appointed by our Board of Education, is currently accepting applications for at-large memberships.
Applicants must live or work full time within the District, and must support the mission and goals of Sycamore Community Schools. This year the deadline for submitting an application is March 4, 2019. Application forms may be obtained by calling the District at 513-686-1700.
PBIS
For the past couple of weeks, we have been featuring parent articles from the Love and Logic series by Jim Fay. This week’s focus comes from that same series and looks at how a parent reacts to unexpected behaviors. The idea of “delayed or anticipatory consequences” for children benefits you as a parent. It gives you time to calm down, come up with a reasonable and enforceable consequence, and think through any supports your child might need to work through this problem. Click on this link for more details.
Earth Day 2019—The Rodeo is Coming!
A BIKE Rodeo, that is! Courtesy of the Blue Ash Police, who will set up a course on the playground at recess. Bikes will be provided. For those more interested in walking, Student Council is planning a par course, including a hula hoop station. The Rodeo will be a second chance to bike and walk that day, after the ride and walk to school. Other highlights will include the chance to see a police bike up close and a student-selected playlist.
Save the Date! We will participate in Earth Day activities on Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the Greene School.
More details coming soon!
