A Peek at Next Week

Writing - Writers will publish their realistic fiction story this week, by determining which paragraphs go on which pages and illustrating and creating a cover for their story.

Reading - Readers will revisit summary and practice determining the best summary for a story. We also continue with character work, including theme.

Math - This week we will work on determining area for polygons that are not rectangles. We will also find fractional parts of area. Multiplication and division work will continue as well.

Science - Energy of all kinds; sound, light, heat/thermal, mechanical, and electrical. This week, we will focus on light and sound energy.

Social Studies - How Do People Become Part of our Country? We will play a game this week that focuses on how people immigrate to other countries.

3rd Grade T-shirts

Our t-shirts were finally delivered and passed out last week. We will be wearing them on all remaining field trips, field day, and any other grade level event. Of course, you may wear them at any other time as well. I hope you enjoy them!

Get Caught Eating Healthy!

The Ross Campus Wellness Committee would like to help encourage healthy eating by recognizing students caught eating healthy in the cafeteria. Once a month a parent volunteer will give one student/class a spirit stick if they are seen eating something healthy. It can be anything from fruit to veggies to milk or water. All students are able to participate. It doesn’t matter if they bring their lunch or buy their lunch at school. The spirit sticks are unique and can only be obtained through this program. You never know what day we will be doing this so eat something healthy each day!
