Mrs. Greene's 3rd Grade
September 14, 2018
What a great week at school!
We kicked off our Fall Fundraiser with a convocation in the cafeteria! It was full of energy and the kids really enjoyed it. This fundraiser is the one time each year we raise money for Smoky Row. I have personally benefited from the money raised, which means that your children benefited from the money as well. Please consider making a donation. It is very easy to get on the website and go through the process electronically. Those of you who have already donated, THANK YOU!!
The third grade teachers were informed last week that we are required to have our students work through a typing program called Typing Without Tears. I sent an email earlier in the week that has your child's "at home" code to use if/when they would like to practice at home. Did you know that this will be the first year 3rd graders are required to type response answers on the ISTEP test? Encouraging your child to practice a few nights each week will be very beneficial for them both short term and long term. They will practice at school while in the computer lab special on Monday. Please let me know if you did not receive your child's code.
The Lion's Club will be at school on Wednesday, September 19 to hand out Dictionaries to our students. This is a fun community outreach for that organization and our students really enjoy receiving this fun tool.
We took a Spelling test today as an assessment of the skills we have been working on over the last two weeks. I will grade it and return it in your child's Data Binder on Monday, September 17.
I have had several students bring their Optional Cursive Handwriting books to school for me to check their work. When they reach the STAR, they receive a treat to enjoy at school. Thank you for encouraging your child to do extra work at home!
That's it for now!
