Information for our New Students & Families!

HVCHS New Students Next Steps

This newsletter will provide you with everything you need to know to start your journey as a Bulldog!


Once you meet with the registrar and provide all of the required documentation, please follow the next steps:


1. Provide the most updated academic record (Unofficial Transcript and Report Card)

Email your unofficial transcript and report card to your student's assigned school counselor.

2. Request that your official records be sent to:

3. Students/Families Registering to Start in September:


If you register in May and June, you will have a course selection meeting with your HVCHS Counselor in the month of June once your academic record is received and reviewed by the school counselor. These meetings typically happen in the last two weeks of June. Your assigned school counselor will reach out to the parent/guardian directly to schedule the meeting.


Any students who register before June 1st, will be invited to attend our 8th Grade Transition Day in June. If interested in attending, please contact Dr. Chris Velderman (HVCHS Student Assistance Counselor) at christophervelderman@hvrsd.org for more details.


If you register in July, you will have a course selection meeting with your HVCHS Counselor during the first two weeks of August once your academic record is received and reviewed by the school counselor. Be Prepared for Your School Counselor Course Selection Meeting

Prior to meeting with your HVCHS Counselor, it is important to review the 2023 -2024 HVCHS Program of Studies (official listing of approved high school courses and their prerequisites) and elective offerings by grade level (lbelow). Additional information can be found on the Counseling Department's Course Selection page.

Special Education

If your child is receiving special education services please provide the most updated IEP and any testing that has been done in the past three years. A child study team member will contact you to coordinate a meeting to discuss his/her/they special education program.

OnCourse Connect

OnCourse is a secure web based portal that allows parents, guardians, and students to view student information in real time including: student schedules, grades, attendance, and homework.


Students will receive their own login and password.


Parents/Guardians will receive their own login and password.

Chromebooks, Student I.D's, & Student Login Accounts

All new students will receive their HVCHS chromebook, student login accounts, and student id and lanyard at New Student Orientation in September 2022

Summer Assignments

All incoming and current students are required to complete summer assignments.
