Online Course Selection Process for 2023-24

Course selections for the 23-24 school year should be made by our current students between February 6 - February 24 on Plus Portals. All of the information you and your student will need to navigate the online process and to make the best course selections is available on our website at: https://www.marian.com/academics/curriculum-guide/.

Parents, it is critical that you play an active role in this process by discussing and reviewing your student's course selections. It will be helpful to have your student print and fill out the grade-specific Course Selection Worksheet and review/discuss the course choices with them before they choose their courses online. The Guidance Counselors are available for you and your students to assist in this process as needed. Please contact Mr. Kruse (tkruse@marian.com) for current freshmen and juniors and Mrs. Hilton (khilton@marian.com) for current sophomores.

Online Course Registration Timeline:

Week of 1/30: Mrs. Hilton and Mr. Kruse will review the course selection and online course registration process with current students during Advisory

2/6 - 2/24: Online course registration by students in Plus Portals

2/24: Course Recommendation Forms due - for students who were not initially recommended for a course OR for students who did not meet the prerequisites for a course

3/6: Course Selection Verification Forms mailed to parents - if a student wishes to adjust his/her course selections after this mailing, they should bring in that form with the change indicated and signed by his/her parent

3/24: Last day to change courses and to pay Advanced Placement (AP) and Dual Credit (DC) course fees without an additional late charge

Catholic Schools Week All County Mass

We are pleased to be able to host our traditional All County Mass in celebration of Catholic Schools Week this year. In keeping with tradition, Marian Central will welcome students and staff from St. Thomas, St. Mary, St. John, St. Margaret Mary, SS Peter & Paul and Montini to celebrate Mass as a community. Parish pastors and priests from within the McHenry Deanery are also invited to concelebrate Mass alongside Fr. Warren.

While parents are usually invited to attend our All School Masses, due to space constraints, we regretfully have to limit attendees to students and staff only for this Mass. However, we are happy to be able to offer a live-stream option for those that would like to join us in prayer remotely.

Please click the link below to join us remotely for Mass on Thursday, February 2, 2023.

ACT - April 15th

Every year, Marian Central Catholic High School serves as a test center for the ACT in April. This year, the test date will be Saturday, April 15th, 2023. The deadline to register for the April test date is Friday, March 10. Please be aware that while we serve as a test center, we are not able to reserve seats solely for our Marian Central students. If you are interested in signing up for the April 15th ACT (or for June 10th or July 15th at other locations), please register on the ACT Registration website. For the April 15th test here at Marian, be sure to use our school code: 144475 and our test center code: 174990.

Another important piece to note is, effective January 1, 2022 Illinois' public institutions will be prohibited from requiring the submission of student test scores as part of the admissions process. Overall, this is positive news and a trend we're seeing at many institutions across the country. One caveat that we want you to be aware of though is that students who wish to be considered as IL State Scholar candidates will still be required by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission (ISAC) to take the ACT or SAT during their junior year (between August 1, 2022 - June 30, 2023) to be considered for State Scholar designation.
