Shout Outs
- 4K-5th grade teachers for sharing and having parents engaged in how students are learning as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and social scientists during curriculum night(s) last week. Extremely positive responsive from families in attendance.
- PTO board, volunteers, cafeteria staff, and custodial staff for their contributions during our two-day grandparents day lunches. Plenty of smiling faces and appreciation expressed by our more than 300 visitors.
- Will McWhirter (son of Paula McWhirter). Will and his wife Sarah reside in Florida. They both stayed behind and endured Hurricane Irma to provide assistance to special needs children. Their sacrifice given the circumstances are a testament to the good that exists in our community and world.
- Mr. Gantt, related areas teachers, and A. Umberger for launching Fox Clubs for 4th and 5th grade students beginning Tuesday, September 12. Fox Clubs are intended to give 4th and 5th grade students an opportunity to participate in high interest activities/extracurricular activities before the start of the school day (7:20 a.m. - 7:45 a.m.). We will have the following Fox Clubs: Ballroom Dancing (music room), Art Club (art room), FCA (gym), Science Club (science lab), and Goal Oriented & Action Leadership G.O.A.L Team (Kit Klub room led by Mr. Gantt). Students were provided an opportunity to sign up on a first come first serve basis. Fox Clubs run until December 2017. New clubs will be offered January 2018.
- N. Jefferson and M. Drayton for illuminating what is possible by posing questions and engaging parents in meaningful ways to support their children as readers and writers. We will highlight this briefly on Tuesday. Below are questions they included during curriculum night and their class newsletters.

High Five with Richland County Sheriffs
High Five is a program instituted by the Richland County Sheriffs Office. Sheriff deputies visit schools and welcomes students with high fives upon their morning arrival. It is a great opportunity for law enforcement to build and strengthen relationships within our local communities. We are grateful for this opportunity.
We will have several sheriff deputies that will greet students as they depart buses Friday at 7:10 a.m. Afterwards the deputies will make their way to our car rider line to greet students there. Please join us in welcoming these deputies and thanking them for their service.
