Sunday Snapshot
Week of September 10 - 14
Message from the Principal
We are excited to begin week #2 of the 2018-2019 school year. I would like to thank our teachers, staff, parents, & students for kicking off an AMAZING first week at Grange Hall. Classroom communities are being established and students are learning about our Bulldog P.R.I.D.E. expectations. The energy in our building was filled with excitement and joy!
As for transportation, we were faced with many challenges during our first week. We will continue to work closely with school officials to communicate transportation concerns and/or changes in a timely manner. We have reevaluated and made changes to our parent pick-up procedures in the afternoon (please read below). We would like thank our entire school community for your feedback, patience, and continued support.
We would like to thank both our PTA and Parkway Baptist Church for their support during teacher work week and the first week of school. Between feeding our teachers, volunteering on the bus loop, cafeteria & delivering cold beverages to our bus drivers, both organizations provided hands on support for students, teachers, and staff. We are better together! Thank you!
If you haven't joined PTA, we are looking to achieve 100% membership for the 2018-2019 school year. It's super easy to join at our PTA website: www.ghpta.com.
Our resource team would also like to send a "shout-out" to all parents and families who donated to the "Resource Giving Tree." Our resource team is equipped and ready to engage students this school year!
Calendar of Events:
- September 10 - B.O.B. kick-off for 5th graders - 8:30 a.m.

With Kindness,
Mrs. Jones
Think Kindness is coming to Grange Hall!
We are SUPER EXCITED to announce that our school is going to be taking on a massive kindness challenge and its launching with an assembly on Tuesday. Grange Hall Elementary will be inviting one of the nation's Top Youth Speakers, Brian Williams, to challenge our kids to a massive 15 Day Kindness challenge. Brian speaks to over 100,000 students each year, he has documented over 1.5 million acts of kindness, traveled to Africa 14 times and collected over 500,000 pairs of shoes for needy children and families. Brian is the founder of Think Kindness, a non-profit that inspires measurable acts of kindness in schools across the country.
Our school challenge will launch with a fun and exciting motivational assembly. During the assembly Brian will be telling his story of traveling around the globe to carry-out seemingly simple acts of Kindness and what he discovered while living at an orphanage in rural Kenya.
But rather than just talk . . . we are going to call them to action!
THE CHALLENGE = KINDNESS EXPLOSION
The entire student body will be challenged to carry-out acts of kindness in the halls, classrooms, at home and throughout the community. Each student will receive a daily kindness challenge as well as some unique ways to document their acts. So don’t be shocked if you see a little more Kindness around the house.
Challenge #2 – Global Impact
During the assembly, students will hear stories, see pictures and watch videos of kids their own age in Kenya. But one big difference, is that these children have never worn a pair of shoes in their life! We are going to challenge the entire school to collect gently used sneakers that will be sent to needy children and families around the globe. So go through your closet to see if you have any sneakers you don’t wear anymore. (also ask your friends, family and neighbors!) Important – we are only collecting sneakers. Please don’t bring boots, flip-flops, slippers, etc.
To help us make an even bigger impact, we want to ask you to engage in conversation with your students about the subject of Kindness. Ask them about what they’ve done, acknowledge what they do, and encourage the simple life skill of Kindness.

Car Loop (parent drop-off & pick-up)
Changes to after-school parent pick-up. Please read carefully.
- Cafeteria doors will not open until 3:00 pm when our instructional day ends.
- We will NOT be giving out car loop numbers this school year(this is a change).
- We do need ALL students who are scheduled to be parent pick-up to have a car-loop sheet completed and turned in. This will confirm that they are a daily parent pick-up.
- Please have your ID ready for our teachers to verify before signing out your child.
- When leaving Grange Hall, please stay to the right of the median when turning onto Hull St. If you fail to stay to the right, you are impacting our buses from entering the bus loop.
Morning parent drop-off is different this year. Please read carefully.
- We will not be using the front doors for parent drop-off this year.
- We must keep the main parking lot open for teachers and staff members, parents who are attending scheduled meetings, and/or require handicapped accessible parking.
- You will enter GHES from Beaver Bridge road and drive straight to the road behind our building (in the direction of the playground).
- All traffic will be stopped in front of Trailer #3 (last trailer) - please adhere to the cones that will be placed across the road.
- All students being dropped off by parents in the morning are required to stay in their vehicles until released by GHES faculty/staff.
- Doors will not open until 8:15 a.m. At that time students will be directed by assigned staff from their cars to the nearest doorway.
- All teachers will be standing at classroom doors to direct students once inside the building. Additional staff will be available to assist our newest bulldogs and kindergarten students.
- We will have staff directing traffic to assist parents with the new morning drop-off procedures.
- We ask for your cooperation as our community navigates these changes.
