A Monthly Resource for Teaching the Faith 10.23
"...Parents and family are paramount in faith transmission, and church communities, their leaders and their programs, play a secondary supportive role. Parents and families cannot go it alone. When churches ....seek to create authentic partnerships with parents and families, then they become integral in the process of faith transmission. "
Marcia Bunge, "Biblical and Theological Perspectives on Children, Parents, and 'Best Practices' for Faith Formation: Resources for Child, Youth and Family Ministry Today." Dialogue: A Journal of Theology, Winter 2008
Let's keep our important team approach with parents in mind, this month, as we prepare for All Saints and All Souls Day in the first week of November!
Shaped by the Source and Summit
"Gatherings of ecclesiastics and laymen for the purpose of celebrating and glorifying the Holy Eucharist and of seeking the best means to spread its knowledge and love throughout the world."
October is a great month to teach your students what a congress is, pray for the success of the New York State Congress and to celebrate the Eucharist in your own way! It is a particularly good time to visit the Tabernacle and to practice reverence and prayer in front of it.

RESOURCE REVIEW
Saints & Mentors for Catechists: 41 Models of Faith to Support and Guide You is a great little booklet by Sr. Janet Shaeffler, OP. Within its slight 48 pages, you will find saint biographies, connections to our work as catechists and questions for wondering and reflecting. Read about a different saint each week, and take some time for a "mini retreat" with the books "ponderings." You are sure to feel nurtured and guided in your role! The booklet is available from Twenty-Third Publications.
