St. Louis IX
Dates: 1214-1270
Feast Day: August 25
St. Louis IX was a great French king who combined his love of Christ and the Church with a willingness to serve his country. He protected and helped the French priests, set up shelters and hospitals for the poor and sick, and built beautiful churches for the people of France. He also gave thought to his own prayer life, spending many hours in prayer for himself and his country.
CELEBRATING LENT AS A FAMILY
- Incorporate a Family Devotional Time Into Your Daily Routine: get everyone together for 5-minutes in the morning or evening to read a daily devotion in a prayer book such as Jesus Today, by Sarah Young.
- 3-Minute Prayer Time: encourage your family members to use the time before they go to sleep or before they get out of bed in the morning to pray for three minutes.
- Make an Offering Jar: as a family, everyone can put spare change in a jar for the entire season of Lent. Let your children put the money in the offering basket at church on Easter Sunday or pick a local charity and donate the money.
- Go to Confession: go to confession as a family each week during Lent.
- Cook Meatless Meals: cook together as a family and make meatless meals more often than just on Fridays during Lent.
- Hour of Silence: on Good Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. observe an hour of silence as a family. Jesus died at 3:00 p.m. on Good Friday. Talk to your children about the importance of respecting the hour of Jesus' death.

PRAYER AGAINST THE CORONAVIRUS
O Mary, you shine continuously along our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who at the Cross were near to the pain of Jesus, keeping your faith firm.
You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this moment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us, He who took our sufferings upon Himself, and took up our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of the Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas – we who are put to the test – and deliver us from every danger, O glorious and blessed Virgin.
