Arizona FCCLA Student of the Month, January, 2019 - Alondra Grijalva Andrade
We are pleased and honored to announce that Cholla Charger ALONDRA GRIJALVA-ANDRADE is the Arizona State FCCLA Member of the Month for January 2019!
Alondra is our Chapter President and has worked hard to motivate students in Early Childhood Education to get involved in community activities, as well as in-class CTSO activities.
She was instrumental in putting together our “Thank A Vet” campaign by gathering 251 letters from Cholla students and then hand-delivering them to the veterans at the Southern AZ VA Hospital – each patient received a hand-written letter!
Alondra also orchestrated the “Adopt a Family” for Christmas, when we donated 4 jumbo bags of toys, a Christmas tree & ornaments, as well as $591 in cash to a Cholla family with 6 children!
Also, also Alondra was instrumental in organizing the Kidz Korner childcare services during both Fall and Spring Parent-Teacher Conferences!
She will be recognized during upcoming FCCLA State Conference (April 15-17). Please congratulate Alondra!!!
LGBTQ+ Visibilty Day
On Tuesday April 2nd, Cholla will be unveiling the first ever rainbow sidewalk here at school as a part of LGBTQ+ visibility day.
Students will be painting the sidewalk outside the auditorium on Saturday morning in preparation for the event. The rainbow is meant to remind our LGBTQ+ students that they are welcome and valued members of our Cholla family. It also aims to prevent bullying that may take place against LGBTQ+ students by reminding everyone about the importance of acceptance.
There will also be fun event from 4-7pm on the 2nd going along with the unveiling that involves food, games, local drag performances, and an open mic for poetry!
If you want more information or are looking for a way to get involved just stop by his office and talk to Mr. Wunderlich.
