What a great quote!

Isn't it awesome to see that Albert Einstein is in favor of where we are taking our new learning in cluster? So amazed at the excitement that is swirling around the building as teachers are planning inquiry lessons based on the student generated questions. Then, listening to students inquire and explore to find the answers to those questions. I loved watching in cluster as you were taking those student generated questions and organizing them based on the Depth of Knowledge type questions and then planning how to get students to inquire and explore to find the answers. You all truly amaze me day in and day out!

Week in Review

TLT Update

This week, the TLT looked at the IB Learner Profile and tied it to the TAP Instructional Rubric. The mentors are using the Learner Profile vocabulary with their students within the lessons they have planned to then use this student work/data next year in cluster cycle 1.

Next Monday, we are going to take a look at our NWEA scores and how they align to our school goal. We will be anxious to share the news with all of you!

More Staffing Updates:

I am pleased to announce a few more updates on staffing for the 2016-17 school year:

-- Ryan Miller is moving from 4th grade to 3rd grade
-- Alejandro Rodriguez will be our Spanish/EL teacher (per board approval)

Thanks to these two gentlemen for being willing to take on new roles. Looking forward to seeing what great things they will bring to their new positions!

TELL SURVEY - 100%

We had a 100% response rate on the TELL survey!

TO CELEBRATE - WEAR JEANS ON MONDAY!!!!!

Thanks to everyone for taking the time to fill out the survey. Your feedback is so much appreciated. We will share the results with you when we get them back next Fall!

Visitors

Wabash School System is looking into adopting TAP. They will be visiting West Goshen next Tuesday afternoon to tour the school, talk with some teachers, and watch the 4th/5th grade cluster. So, if you see some different people popping in and out of your classrooms, you will know who they are! :)

IB Parent Night

Mark your calendars for May 24th at 6:00. We will be having an IB Parent Information Meeting. After the meeting, we will have a dessert bar in the cafeteria.

We will be sending home reminder slips the next several Mondays - with a place for parents to respond with the number that will be attending.

If you are willing to provide a dessert for that night, please let me know! :)

NWEA - planning ahead

On May 16th, during Monday morning data time, please plan on spending some time updating your NWEA sticky notes on the back wall. I will print out the reports you will need to do this!

Boys Basketball Team

We have eight 5th grade boys who will make up West Goshen's boy's basketball team. A HUGE thank you to Bob Duell and Ben Doyle for coaching these very excited boys!

If you want to watch them in action, they will be playing the other elementary schools at GHS on May 17th and May 20th at 6:00 pm.

Central Office Updates:

Today’s Focus: Teams

“A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves.”
– Lao Tzu

Reflections to Guide Your Journey

Think of a great leader in your life. How have they helped you achieve and accomplish more than you thought possible?

Teacher Recruitment Fair

On Friday May 6th, we will be hosting a local teacher recruitment event here at the Admin Center. This is a joint venture between GCS, the Chamber of Commerce and Teachers’ Credit Union. We have approximately 10 – 12 prospective teaching candidates who will be joining us for the day. In the morning, there will be a tour of a few schools and the community with lunch at the Old Bag Factory. In the afternoon, candidates will be interviewing with administrators. Administrators who plan to attend the interview sessions should plan to park across the street in the band practice area. This will allow our guests and other visitors to have ample parking for the day. Administrators should come prepared with your own interview questions. A schedule and candidate information will be provided to you.

TAP Bonus Pay

The second part of the TAP Bonus pay for teachers will be received on Friday this week. REMEMBER: If you haven’t already done so, please return the signed worksheets ASAP along with the spreadsheet with verification of teaching experience to Sarah in HR. Any worksheets that you may have for previous employees should be returned so that we can send those in the mail with the former employee’s bonus check.

Building Trades Open House

The GHS Building Trades open house will be held this Saturday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. The address for the house is 2445 Tulip Blvd, which is located in the Gardens subdivision off of Clinton. Please stop by to see the work of our skilled and dedicated students.
