Successful Remote Learning
I know how difficult it is for parents during this time, but if you could please help your children get organized it would make the school day run smoother and alleviate some of the frustrations our students feel when they are frantically looking for materials and packets.
Pencil/Supply Box
It is so important to set your children up for success during remote learning or when we return to school in a hybrid model. Students should have all materials ready to go whether it is in a backpack, bag or in a desk. Having scissors, glue sticks, pencils, crayons/colored pencils, highlighters, notebooks and paper available will ensure that our remote lessons and transitions run smoothly.Packets
We are happy to print out packets weekly. It is helpful if you please make sure your students have all the papers necessary to complete assignments. We are hearing from many students daily that they do not have the necessary paperwork for the assignments and because of that students are missing out on prime instruction.
We put out new packets every week for students in the 3rd and 5th grades. The new packets are placed out front from 9-3 everyday, beginning on Friday. If you would like to pick up a packet after hours just let the office know and we can tape your packet to the front doors.
4th grade packets are placed out front every two weeks. Please check with classroom teachers for the release dates of these packets.
Attendance
Please communicate with your child's teacher and the office (jeanine_johnstone@wrsd.net) if your child will not be attending school.
Please remember the mute button.
Missing a remote learning lesson
Due to this, teachers will do their best to meet the needs of our students who are absent from their remote classes. We may offer access to some other learning resource, such as a video explaining the math concept, or the science topic, or whatever it is that we want students to learn in the lesson. We can also supply students with other resources that explain what was taught in class. This might be reading from a textbook, or reading from some other source.
