Education built on Love & Caring

A Valentine's Month to Remember
I remember the love is series in the newspaper as I think about the notions of love that the month of February brings with it. That series had so many creative ways of capturing love. Fortunately this job and our campus seems to give me just as large a number of real-life love examples. I see love in the high expectations that our teachers have for their students. I saw a ton of love on the faces of parents and family members as their children competed in the 1st annual Batesvillle Elementary Scripps Spelling Bee. I see love in the kindness students show for each other as they help one another with classroom assignments or tasks like going to the nurse or the office. For me, love is the opportunity to wake up in a new day and greet every student and professional that make this school a bastion of love, caring, and excellence.
PBIS STARS of the Week & DoSeum Trip Qualifying
Each week our students and professional team strive to make the impossible possible by holding each other accountable for following the 4 Bs and accepting only excellence in their work. This is the expectation as teachers meet to discuss students' test scores and plan instruction. Each student is expected to set new goals for progress, reach them, and then set increasingly higher goals. This is the pathway to the best universities in the nation. We are dedicated to our No Excuses mentalities in 2018!
RTI - Tutoring- & Individualized Goals
On January 15th, our campus kicked off our 2nd semester of after school tutoring focused on Tier 2 and Tier 3 students in K-2nd grades, and all students in grades 3-6. The goal is to get 100% of our students reading on grade level by the 3rd grade, and to have 100% of our classrooms in grades 3-6 meet their goals on STAAR. Tutoring is M/Tues from 315-4 in K-2, and from 315-5 in grades 3-6. We will be reporting student progress with individual parents throughout the process.
Scripps Spelling Bee Event
Batesville Elementary's 1st annual Scripp's Spelling Bee was an awesome event where parents eagerly supported their children, and students showed great spelling progress. The competition was very respectful and exciting. We are thankful to the support of Ms. Valdez, Ms. Gutierrez, Ms. Lalli Lopez, Ms. Chapoy (judge), and our guest judge Ms. Poe. 6th grader Crystal Munoz finished in first place and will be attending the regional final in San Antonio on February 17th. 2nd and 3rd place finishers were Braylee Morgan (3rd Grade), and D'edren Tenorio (4th Grade). Our campus and the community were the biggest winners of the night.
