Reflecting on the past week...

We're live!

Thanks to Mrs. Hilton and the Guidance Department for developing and training our students on Marian's new online course selection process. Also, thanks to Mrs. Littner and her student mentors for guiding our freshmen in understanding the process. Monday's extended homeroom was a big step towards a more efficient course selection process that will ultimately allow us to work on scheduling that much more quickly. Course selection will be open until February 21.

We are also keeping up with technology through online registration! Mrs. Bordeaux made that dream a reality this year, working with Administration to create a process for both incoming freshmen and transfer students. This will be on Marian's website soon but was pushed out via a special email to the Class of 2024 families Friday. We expect that this will streamline the registration process and are excited to see increased efficiency.

Quite a few exciting student events were occurring throughout the week! Activities included the IDEA MVP Pitch Day, students going to see Lion King, attending the MUN conference, and competing in the Academic Challenge. Thanks to all the Staffulty that guided, coached and chaperoned our students. Please check out the details below!

A big thanks to Mrs. Cetera for sharing her knowledge and experience in EdPuzzle. As provided on a follow-up email, you can access EdPuzzle and begin building your account by clicking this link. As we continue to integrate technology into our curriculum delivery and anticipate an increased utilization of E-Learning in the future, Ed Puzzle can be a great way to engage your students in your content while preserving your face-to-face instructional time!

Finally, thanks to all who supported the Heart Awareness Day by wearing red on Friday.

What's coming up?

This week should be a relatively quiet one as we buckle down on academics. Many classes are focusing on ACT prep in preparation for the testing that will take place at Marian on April 18. AP classes have also been counting down to testing, as students are realizing that May is not that far away after all!

Thursday will bring us an altered schedule due to an All School Mass as well as cheering out our Chess Team as they go to State this weekend!

Finally, Friday will be a noon dismissal. We are finalizing the agenda, but topics will include Discipline with Dignity, our new calendar & daily bell schedule for 2020-21, and the future of STREAM at Marian Central. As soon as the agenda is completed, we will push it out via email. Marian will be providing lunch after 12 pm, and we anticipate starting our meeting by 12:45 pm.

Don't forget that next weekend is a 3 day weekend due to President's Day... enjoy!

Have a good week!

Faculty Survey

As we are continuously adjusting to our ever-changing enrollment and student demographics, it is important that we evaluate our assets, not just the physical resources, but also our human resources.

The administration is asking faculty (teachers, guidance, and librarian) to spend a few minutes responding to the attached survey. It is relatively short and easy to complete. We are asking you to complete the survey by February 15. Thank you, ahead of time, for your response.

Time is Running Out!

This is just a gentle reminder that all Staffulty members are to complete this year's set of online training session in order to stay in compliance with Illinois state mandates for schools.

As shared back in August, all trainings must be completed no later than April 1, 2020.

If you have already completed your trainings, thank you for being so pro-active! If you have not, please print out the Certificate of Completion once you have completed all of your designated trainings.

If you need assistance logging into your account, please contact Ms. Novy.
