Minimizing Exposure to Covid19
As we continue to work to keep students and staff safe at Oasis Elementary South, we ask your assistance to make sure everyone's health and wellbeing is safeguarded.
If you have a positive case of COVID-19 in your household, please do everything you can to minimize or eliminate direct exposure between your children and the positive individual. Any student or staff who has had direct exposure to a positive case must stay home and be quarantined for 14 days from the last known date of exposure. Direct exposure means any siblings or household members who have been within 6 feet of a person with a confirmed COVID infection for 15 minutes or more within a 24 hour period.
In addition, if your child is displaying COVID-19 related symptoms, such as: fever of 100.4 or higher, sore throat, newly uncontrolled cough, difficulty breathing, diarrhea, vomiting, abdominal pain, or a new onset of a severe headache (especially with a fever), or symptoms similar to that of a common cold, please keep your student home and contact the school.
Together, our efforts can minimize exposure and provide for a safe environment for our students and staff. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

K-Kids Thanksgiving Food Drive
As the holidays quickly approach, the need for some of the families at our own school and community cannot go unnoticed. We can make a huge difference this holiday season for a family in need. The Oasis Elementary South Guidance Department and Oasis K-Kids have joined forces together to sponsor a holiday food drive.
We will be collecting donations of Thanksgiving related nonperishable food items from Monday, November 2nd – Wednesday, November 18th. Donations will be collected each morning in your child’s homeroom class. These donations will first be provided to families at our own school who may be in need this holiday season. Any leftover donations will be donated to the Cape Coral Caring Center at the end of the drive.
Below is a list of suggested Items • Boxed stuffing • Cranberry sauce • Pie crusts • Boxed mashed potatoes • Yams • Juice • Gravy • Jiffy cornbread mix • Olives • Chicken broth • Bread crumbs • Rice • Any can of vegetables or fruits- corn, beans, peas, pears, peaches, pineapple, etc. •
Any other nonperishable food items are ALWAYS needed such as peanut butter & jelly, pretzels, apple sauce, etc.

Who’s ready to have some fun with STEM?
As part of our system’s efforts to increase STEM opportunities for all students, we would like to invite all families with students in grades K-8 to participate in a home STEM bingo game. Engaging in STEM and design thinking activities has shown to have tremendous impact in increasing students’ understanding of critical thinking, problem solving, and creative thinking.
Over the next two months, we invite you to work as a family to complete any five (or more!) challenges from the bingo cards below.
STEM Bingo
The five challenges you work on do not have to be done in a row on the card, simply choose the five your family is most interested in completing.
When you are done, please complete this Google Form with information on the challenges you completed and photos showing your family working together on these tasks. Please complete the form by Monday, January 4.
All students who complete this challenge and submit photos through the Google Form above will receive a laser engraved keepsake from the OMS Gator Garage Makerspace.
We hope you have fun as a family with this challenge. We can not wait to see all the great solutions you come up with!
