Nuts & Bolts
Week of April 23, 2018
Busy Weekend
I appreciate your attention at our professional learning on Friday and your hard work toward completing those required Child Abuse and Data Privacy trainings. It is astounding that we, as educators, are responsible for a child's physical and emotional safety as well as the safety of their data. You all handle this responsibility beautifully and for that I am grateful.
Thank you to Ms. Michelle for working with JH students to organize a formal 9th Grade Dance. Thank you to Ms. Shilo for being there early to set-up the dance with Ms. Michelle and Ms. Leigh for chaperoning and heading up clean up. The students seemed to enjoy their time.
Have a fantastic week!
Construction Update
I hope everyone enjoyed a sneak peek at the new building during the tour on Friday. Please see René if you have questions.
High Five!
Suicide Prevention Training Follow Up
Thank you for your patience as the data privacy training ran over it's scheduled time.
Ms. Andrea's full suicide prevention PPT is coming soon. Remember, if you need to officially take the suicide training for renew your teaching license, you will need to complete the online portion of the training, in addition to our in-person part, because two hours are required. The website to access the online portion is: https://www.uen.org/suicidepreventiontraining/. Follow the steps on the website; it is very self-explanatory. Contact Andrea if you have questions about this or anything on her PPT.
Staff Party
Save the Date
Teaching Assistant Evaluations
The TA self-reflection and conference with the lead teacher, as outlined in last week's N&B, should be completed by the end of this week. You can begin scheduling your 15 minute meetings with me as soon as you complete your part. Special education TAs will meet with their case managers and follow-up with Dana.
Again, if TAs need to put in an extra hour outside of your regular schedule to make this process happen, please submit a "request for extra hours" form to me asap and before your meeting. Thanks!
Sandbox Off Limits
Before, during or after school - other children are no longer allowed to play in the early childhood sandbox, including playing with all of the associated materials- brooms and shovels, for example. We realize that it has been difficult this semester with having very little space to play due to construction; and, we need to communicate to students that materials cannot be destroyed. Please inform your own staff children of this change as well.
