September Library Happenings
Celebrating our Freedom to Read!
- Related topics were explored during Banned Books Week. Coach Oertling's AP US History classes learned about McCarthyism and the English III classes led by Ms. Barrow, Mrs. Brunot, and Mrs. Villaume saw the The Crucible at McNeese. Mrs. Brunot's English II Pre-AP students finished reading Anthem by Ayn Rand, where the main character has not been allowed to read and discovers a library at the end.
Breakout EDU
Have you ever participated in an Escape Room? Breakout EDU is the educational version of that concept. According to the Breakout EDU website, this type of learning "allows for the facilitation of games where players use teamwork and critical thinking to solve a series of challenging puzzles in order to open the locked box."
Recently, Mrs. Foreman's AP Psychology classes participated in a neuroscience breakout in the library. The students learned about teamwork, perseverance, problem-solving, and were introduced to some terminology.
There are Breakouts for all content areas, so I look forward to hosting more Breakouts in the library this school year.
