The Largest Tropical Rainforest

The Amazon is the worlds largest rainforest covering over 2 million miles of land in South America. It contains a many varieties of species and has a lot of plant types. The Amazon is being threatend by illegal logging, gold mining, and over harvesting of animals.

The Costa Rican rainforest

The Costa Rican rainforest is much smaller than the Amazon and is divided in reserves it can be found in the Central American country Costa Rica. The Costa Rican rainforest has five levels ground, shrub, and three tree levels.

The Congo Rainforest

The Congo is in west Africa. It has many animal species such as gorillas, elephants, and chimpanzees. It is in being threatened by deforestation.

Southeastern Asian Rainforest

The southeastern Asian rainforest are the oldest rainforests on the planet. It covers a little bit more than 1 million square miles. Flower do not bloom the same time as in other parts of the world. Most nutrients for plants are close to the surface, this attribute gives plants and fruits a stronger fragrance.

Gondwana Rainforests

The Gondwana Rainforests are in Australia. This rainforest used to be a part of the super continent Gondwana, it contains much plant life as well a a variety of animal species. It houses 200 of the worlds rare species and has trees that are 2000 years old.

Why are the Rainforests so important?

The rainfroests are very important to our lives. They provide the world with air, medicines, wood, and food. Without the rainforests we would lose over 20% of the worlds air. Many medicines such as cancer drugs, blood pressure medicine, and others.
