Mission Statement

Northwood Elementary School will provide higher-level learning opportunities for all students to maximize their potential in a safe, nurturing, respectful, and diverse environment.

Fun Run

Wow, we are over halfway to our goal (58%). Please make sure you register your child. Click the link below to see our school status. Students benefit from the funds raised. Thank you for helping us meet our goal! Students are using the playground installed last year and the Chromebooks.

Staff Announcements

We have a new day custodian. Miss Terry Reeves joins us from ROMS. Please welcome her.

Parking Lot Volunteers

We are looking for volunteers to help in the parking lot and drop-off/pick-up areas. Please let Mrs. Ashburn know if you are interested and we will add your name to the list. Please let me know the days of the week and times you are available. With volunteers we will be able to alleviate some congestion.

Lunch Monitors

Please email if you are interested in being a lunch monitor or sub lunch monitor.

Q & A

1. How many fire drills do you have?

We have five fire drills, three lockdown drills and two tornado drills. These are required.

2. Are dogs allowed at school?

Dogs are not allowed on school property unless they are guide dogs (not training).

3. What do teachers do on late starts?

Teachers arrive by 7:50 and attend Professional Development. The professional development is not always at Northwood. Last week teachers in grades K,1,2 and specials met to discuss setting student learning objectives and teacher evaluation. Teachers in grades 3,4,5 met at the Board Office to learn about Writing Pathways.

4. I was at school during the last fire drill and the alarm kept sounding. Why?

The new custodian worked with the alarm company to make sure the alarm will shut off. We should be set for the next one. One of the reasons we have drills is to work out the bugs.
