A Message from Mrs. Bennett
Clow families,
My calendar still says July so by all accounts, there is still plenty of summer left for us to enjoy! I hope your family has had a fun-filled summer and I also hope that you and your Clow Cougar(s) are looking forward to the start of a new school year. I've been able to enjoy some downtime and time with family and friends. My husband and I enjoyed a getaway to Tennessee with my step-daughter, Olivia, earlier in the month and we look forward to Sophie joining us this weekend for one-on-one time with her too! I've also gotten to attend some college visits with my Goddaughter, Kalleigh, this summer. Such fun to see "life" through these young adult lives!
While last school year was certainly one for the "memory books" we do believe that the start of our new school year will be a bit more normal in nature. The information you will find within this newsletter should provide you with details regarding our anticipated start-up. Of course, things are subject to change, but know that I will update you as the first days draw near. Please know that the staff and I look forward to welcoming all new students to Clow School and welcoming back all of our returning students too.
There is a great deal of information within this edition of the Clow School News! Thanks so much for taking the time to read and review. Please know that there will be additional informational and procedural items to share before the start of the school year. I will continue to provide those updates to you via regular school communication.
I look forward to partnering with each of you as we work together to make this a great school year. Please reach out to me with any questions.
Take care!
Katie Bennett

Meet & Greet Plan (tentative)
The health and safety of our students, staff and families will continue to be a priority as we begin the new year. We tentatively plan to host a Meet & Greet on the afternoon of Tuesday, August 17th. Here are the parameters that we ask that you consider before coming to visit that day:
- In an effort to limit the number of individuals in the building at any given time, we ask that families visit during the assigned time, based on the alphabetical breakdown below.
- Families should limit the number of adults visiting with a child(ren) to no more than two.
- District 204 "recommends masks for all" and we ask that you consider this when you arrive to our school.
- When visiting your child's classroom and teacher, families should limit the time to less than 15 minutes. If you have more than one child, we understand that you will have more than one classroom to visit. Visits should be brief.
- We invite families to socialize outdoors, after your visit, if you choose.
- We will have multiple doors open to enter and exit. More details will be shared prior to August 17th.
- If you are unable to attend on August 17th, students will be assisted in finding their classrooms on the first day of school and may bring their school supplies on that day!
Families should plan their visit during the following time frame, based upon the first letter of your child's last name:
Last Names A - H (2:00 - 2:30 pm)
Last Names - I - R (2:30 - 3:00 pm)
Last Names - S - Z (3:00 - 3:30 pm
Please look for further communication the week prior to August 17th to confirm these details and plans!
First Day Plans (1st - 5th Grades)
Due to health and safety practices and procedures, only students will be allowed in the building on the first day of school. Staff will be available to assist all students with entering the building and finding their classroom. Please understand that parents/guardians will not be admitted into the building. Thank you for your understanding.
Our school arrival/dismissal information will be shared with families in August, along with other procedural information for our school.
Plan for Kindergarten First Day (with Parent/Guardian)
We are excited to welcome our newest Cougars to Clow School on Thursday, August 19th, for a shortened visit! Please see below for important information regarding this special day:
While Thursday, August 19th is the official first day of school in District 204, kindergarten students will only attend for a short period of time on this day. We believe it is important to use this day to help kindergarten students ease into their new learning environment.
Kindergarten children and a parent/guardian (no more than 2 adults should attend with each kindergarten child) will attend a session based on the schedule listed below. Parents should arrange for childcare for younger siblings as they will not be permitted into the building for the visit. Thank you for your cooperation!
Please use the information below to determine your scheduled visit time (thank you for adhering to this schedule):
Last Names beginning with:
- A - H (9:45 - 10:30am)
- I - M (10:30 - 11:15am)
- N - R (11:15 am - 12:00pm)
- S - Z (12:00 - 12:45 pm)
More details will be forthcoming as we near the start of school.
Arrival & Dismissal Procedures
An Arrival/Dismissal Information Form was included as part of the registration process. If you did NOT complete that during registration, we ask that you complete this form so that our teachers will know how your student(s) will arrive and depart each day. This form should be completed for each student you have at Clow School, prior to August 19th. If you have not yet finalized your plan, know that I will continue to include this form in upcoming communication and you can complete it when your plan is finalized.
