We have a great staff at BISD, and we want you to get to know them a little better!

Big picture

What is your position with BISD?

Agriculture Science Teacher

How many years have you been with Breckenridge ISD?

How many total years do you have in education?

Share a little bit about your family.

I have a pretty diverse family where we all have different career paths. I am the first person in my family to move out of Erath and Hood county so it’s kind of weird to live away from home but also refreshing.

Where did you grow up (hometown)?

Tolar, TX

If you attended or are attending college, where did you go?

Tarleton State University

If you are a teacher, where have you taught previously? If you are not a teacher, what other jobs have you held prior to coming to BISD?

Waco Midway

Describe your favorite teacher growing up.

My favorite teacher growing up was my Ag teacher. As an FFA member, you sometimes spend more time with the ag teacher than your own family so they are practically your second family.

What was your favorite subject in school?

Other than ag I liked math and science.

Why did you choose education as a career choice?

I wanted to impact the lives of kids the way my life was impacted.

What does success look like in your classroom?

Success in my classroom is students being creative and coming up with designs and projects that grow their brains.

What is your favorite or funniest "teaching moment?"

My favorite teaching moment is when I completely winged a lesson and it was one of the best lessons I ever had.

What is your favorite thing about Breckenridge ISD?

My first two years teaching were at a large 6A school and coming into Breckenridge has been a breath of fresh air with it being smaller and a hometown feel!

What advice do you have for students?

Always keep going. Don’t give up especially when things get tough.

What advice do you have for parents?

Let your students grow and become young adults.

What advice do you have for a first-year teacher?

Don’t let the kids get the best of you. They will try to push you around since you are new but set the bar high and don’t back down.

What is your ideal vacation spot?

In a cabin with snow-capped mountains in the background.

What is your favorite quote?

Hakuna Matata

What is your favorite movie?

That’s a tough one!! Really any Disney movie is the best. If I had to choose one it would probably be The Lion King because I could watch that every day.

What is your favorite food?

Mexican food!

What do you do in your spare time (hobbies, etc)?

Spend time with family and go to stock shows.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would you live? Why?

I would only like to visit Australia. Texas is the only place I want to live. There is nothing better than this great state.
