*Let me know immediately if you have any issues or emergencies during testing so I can help you resolve them asap, including AC issues.
*Instruct your data clerk to send me the numbers of students who are absent from testing at the end of each day.
*Remind your teachers to keep their doors unlocked and ajar with door windows uncovered (no curtains or covers) to avoid disruption during monitoring.
*Administration should be monitoring in the testing areas at all times.
*Prior to the end of the day Monday, walk the halls and common areas in addition to classrooms to be sure everything that could be considered an instructional aide is covered or taken down.
General Stuff
*Be sure to share the guidelines for student telephone use from this week’s WAIP with your staff.
*If at all possible, please have one of your 5th grade teachers attend one of the after school 5th grade science STAAR review, memo in the WAIP. This meeting will provide teachers with additional support, resources, and guidance they will NOT hear otherwise.
*Be sure to share the calendar/schedule changes for next year with your staff (see WAIP). There are some significant changes, and they should review the document carefully.
*If a student needs to be transported by ambulance to the hospital and a parent is not present, the student always should be accompanied by an administrator, the campus nurse, or the school counselor.
*If you haven’t done so already, email the username and password for your campus and department Twitter accounts to taveno@garlandisd.net by end of the day Monday. Be sure to include the name(s) of those who typically post on the account.
Expectations Review
- Principal off campus: If you are aware of an absence or anytime off campus for more than 30 minutes or so, please email or text accordingly.
- Absence from meetings: Should a situation arise that causes you to miss a district meeting, please make sure that I am aware via email.
- Field Trips: When completing the form, please fully complete the form and indicate in the appropriate section the TEKS covered and a brief explanation of the activity. If the trip is not clearly related to the standards, it may not be approved.
- If you have not done so already, please share your calendar with me and Irene Ruiz in order to facilitate setting up meetings.
- Please read and follow the WAIP as well as this newsletter. Should you have any questions please let me know. It will be my goal to not repeat information unless it is absolutely necessary.
Does this remind you of the STAAR test training too?
