Mrs. Stevenson's Message
Dear South Creek Families,
I am so proud of South Creek’s robotics club. Mrs. Sirilla and Mrs. Huber led the club for the first time this year in the Vex IQ Challenge at Shortridge High School on February 18th. The club placed 3rd out of ~ 30 teams.
I am so proud of our two finalist in the Symphony of Color Art contest submitted by Mrs. Hancock. Isabelle Mosier was a finalist for 3rd grade and Ryland Yeatts was a finalist for 4th grade.
I am so proud of our 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students and their teachers. They were well prepared and confident during the first round of ISTEP testing this week. The K-2 classes encouraged the students to BE their best.
Words of encouragement from Ms. Crafts class to Mrs. Hayes class.
" I hope you pass."
" Try your best."
“Pump up your words"
I hope to see you at the PTO sponsored events: The Pizza Making Night and the Spring Fling.
South Creek is a school of hope, guided by knowledge, inspired by love.
Toni Stevenson, Principal

Mrs Webb's Wonderful Interview by Teegan Quick
Hey Gators! Guess what! It is already March! WOW time flies when you are having fun! And to prove that I decided to ask Mrs Webb, what fun she and her class is having! The first thing I wanted to know is if she has given out any positive office referrals? She said that she has given out a few! I also wanted to know what are some crafts they are doing? She said she did some Valentine boxes for Valentine's Day last month. Then I wanted to know if her class has any fun plans for the rest of the school year? She said that she can’t think of anything at the moment. But don’t worry, I bet she has something up her sleeve! And the last thing I wanted to know is of course if time is flying in her classroom? She told me, it is flying so fast you can’t even see it when it runs by. And don’t worry when she said that she was eager to see whats next! Well, thank you Mrs Webb, for giving us some info about your class and how much you are having fun!
And thank YOU Gators of South Creek Elementary for letting us, the Gator Gazette, know how you are liking the school year! And do me one last favor…….. Work hard during the rest of the 2017 school year!
Spring Sports by Faith Smith
Hey gators are you excited for all the spring sports that are going to be starting up again? There's basketball, baseball, and soccer, cheer, gymnastics, and football. Which one do you play? I do gymnastics and used to do soccer and softball. My mom was my coach for softball. It was really fun except when i had to quit because i had to do gymnastics. But still sports are really fun but if you're like me it's hard to choose which sport you want to play for the rest of the spring. Well that's it for this month. I hope you guys like the sports you choose to do for the spring.
ISTEP Tips by Reece Koomler
Hi my name is Reece and I wanted to help all the third graders and up by giving them ISTEP tips.
Here are some really good tips! First, if you don’t get what the question trying to ask, you can read it a couple times.
When you are done recheck your answers to make sure you didn’t make any mistakes. If you do erase your answer, erase really good and fill in the correct answer.
When you have to do a writing response reread your work to make sure you didn’t make any spelling mistakes. There are some tips!
ALL ABOUT JUMP ROPE FOR HEART by Faith Smith
Hey Gators! Do you like gym? Well I know I do and my favorite part about it is Jump Rope for Heart. Today, I am going to be interviewing Mrs. Curtis! Her opinions about it is she thinks it’s a great way to stay healthy and fit. She also thinks it’s a great way to raise money and to make a lot of kids happy by giving them gifts. The last thing she likes about it is that it’s physical and she likes being active. Ok Gators that is it for today. Bye!
THE SPRING FLING AUCTION March 10 by Sienna Garcia
It’s the Spring Fling and everyone is going! The teachers are having an auction for things like playing tag in the halls, having breakfast or lunch, and things like sitting in the teacher's chair for a whole day. Did you know that South Creek has been doing this awesome event for a little over eight years? Some things have changed but, the fun hasn't. When Spring Fling starts, be ready, because the teachers are going to start auctioning things fast. Remember, theSpring Fling is on March 10th, and happens only once a year. So come and have an awesome time!
St.Patrick's Day Recipe of the Month by Katy Walker
Hey Gators! I will be asking teachers what is their favorite recipe for St.Patrick's Day. The teacher I am asking is Mrs.Curtis! Mrs.Curtis’ favorite St.Patrick's Day recipe is Shamrock Rice Krispie Treats!
Ingredients:
½ stick of butter (melted)
1 bag of mini marshmallows
A few drops of green food coloring
6 cups of Rice Krispies
Melt butter in a saucepan on low heat. Add marshmallows and slowly stir until melted. Once melted, add the green food coloring. Mix thoroughly before adding Rice Krispies. Remove pan from heat, add Rice Krispies and stir. Pour into a 9 1/2 x11 buttered dish, let cool and cut.
**For extra fun, once cooled you can cut them into shapes with cookie cutters to celebrate St.Patrick's Day!
