Thank You!

Wow! We had an amazing feast. We had so much that we were able to have lunch and then a separate dessert time! I am so grateful for your support and generosity!

Report Cards

The first report card of the year will be distributed at your child's conference. If a conference hasn't been scheduled, the report card will come home with the student on December 7th.

Math

Mrs. Close's Class ~ The kids have been super busy. In the past two weeks they have taken their first CML and first MO competitions. Both are quite a challenge. The results of those will come home next Friday. In addition, they have been multiplying like crazy! Most of the kids prefer the traditional algorithm while just a few use partial products. Long division is next! Keep up with the fact practice and the exit ticket corrections.

Ms. Gleason's Class ~ We have practiced multiplying 2, 3 and 4-digit numbers by 1- digit. The students learned the standard algorithm very quickly and are doing great with it. We have spent the last two days solving multi-step word problems. Next week we will be multiplying 2-digit numbers by 2-digit numbers. Again the children will learn a few different methods and will be allowed to choose the one that works best for them. Keep studying those facts!

ELA

Social Studies ~ Our next integrated ELA/SS unit will the Explorers. We'll focus our attention to the explorers who impacted New York State.

PAWS ~ The kids have completed four assignments and just yesterday, completed an on-demand writing task to "show off" their opinion writing skills. I am looking forward to reading all about their ideas on school uniforms.

Word Work ~ The goal is to get word work up and part of our ELA stations. The students took a spelling test for me and their grouping will depend on their individual spelling stage. Some kids know most of the "rules" and patterns and won't need that instruction, so they will focus on vocabulary. Other kids need to work on vowel patterns and rules and they will practice those skills.

Longhouses

Longhouses will be on display during parent conferences.

Instruments

Kids will need to bring their instruments on Monday, November 25th for band/orchestra ensembles and Wednesday, November 27th for lessons.
