STAR READING ASSESSMENT
We took the STAR Reading Assessment back in August and will be taking it again this upcoming Monday. I will send home a printed report in your child's Tuesday Folders so that you can see your his/her progress so far this school year.
INFORMATIONAL ESSAY
This week, students began an informational writing assignment. The assignment is also posted on Google Classroom and is due on Thursday, 12/19. We have already begun to work on this essay in class and will continue to do so next week. Some students may need additional time to complete the essay, so they may need to work at home as well. The directions for the assignment are below...
• Option A: Explain what food insecurity is, how it happens, and how it affects many Americans.
• Option B: Explain how government programs and other organizations help people who are food insecure or are in poverty.
SOCKS AND MITTENS TREE
Every year at this time Jackson students are given a wonderful opportunity to help others. Two beautiful trees have been donated by Big John’s and are in the lobbies of both Primary and Main. Now for the fun part…we get to decorate them!! That’s right, it’s our annual “Socks and Mittens Tree”!
Please talk about this with your student and help us decorate the trees with NEW socks, mittens, gloves, scarves, hats, blankets, sweaters, and anything else that might keep Atlanta’s homeless children warm this winter. All items will be collected on December 20 and taken to the Atlanta Shelter for Women and Children.
